Terms of Service

Welcome to Collect Sisu. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Collect Sisu website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Collect Sisu (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

1. What Collect Sisu is

Collect Sisu is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects people who want to rent event gear or hire event services (“Guests”) with people who provide them (“Hosts”). We are not the provider of any rental item or service listed on the Service. Hosts are independent third parties responsible for their listings, their items, the services they perform, and their interactions with Guests.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.

3. Bookings, payments, and cancellations

When a Guest books a listing, they enter into a direct agreement with the Host for the rental or service. Collect Sisu facilitates the payment via Stripe but is not a party to the rental agreement itself.

• Guests authorize payment at booking; the Host’s acceptance captures the charge.
• Cancellation policies are set per-listing by the Host (Flexible, Moderate, Strict, or Non-refundable). The applicable refund follows the tier the listing displayed at the time of booking. The platform service fee is non-refundable on guest cancellations; tax is refunded proportionally to the base refund.
• Disputes between Guests and Hosts about goods or services should first be raised between the parties; Collect Sisu may step in to mediate but is not obligated to do so.

4. Host responsibilities

• You are responsible for the accuracy of your listings (description, condition, availability, pricing).
• You must hold all licenses, permits, and insurance required to operate.
• You agree to honor accepted bookings and to provide goods or services as described.
• Payouts are processed through Stripe Connect Express; you authorize Collect Sisu to facilitate these payouts.

5. Guest responsibilities

• You agree to use rental items only for their intended purpose and to return them in the condition you received them, accounting for ordinary wear.
• You agree to be present (or designate a representative) during the exchange windows the platform sets for your booking. Pickup runs from 30 minutes before booking start through booking start; dropoff from booking end through 30 minutes after; delivery (if your host offers it) from 30 to 90 minutes before booking start. Small shifts can be coordinated in chat; bigger changes require a reschedule.
• You are responsible for damages beyond ordinary wear. When the Host requires a security deposit on the listing, Collect Sisu authorizes that amount on your payment method at acceptance. We release the deposit 48 hours after a clean return; if the Host files an approved damage claim, the corresponding amount is captured from the deposit before the remainder is released to you. Damage in excess of the deposit may result in a separate charge against your payment method through the claim resolution flow.

6. Fees

Collect Sisu charges service fees that are displayed at the time of booking. Stripe processing fees may also apply. We may change our fees from time to time; changes will not retroactively affect already-booked transactions.

7. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to use the Service to: violate any law; infringe anyone’s rights; post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings; harass other users; circumvent the platform to avoid fees; or transmit viruses or other malicious code.

8. Content you submit

When you submit photos, descriptions, reviews, or other content to the Service, you grant Collect Sisu a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the Service.

9. Reviews

Reviews are intended to be honest accounts of completed transactions. Reviews are published only after both parties have submitted or 14 days have passed since the booking completion, whichever comes first.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” Collect Sisu makes no warranties, express or implied, about the Service, the Hosts, the Guests, or the items or services listed. We do not verify the accuracy of listings or the identity of every user beyond what Stripe Connect Express requires.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Collect Sisu’s total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount of fees Collect Sisu has collected from you in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) US$100.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Collect Sisu harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting support.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [state to be filled by counsel], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that state.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
