If you've fallen down the Bluey rabbit hole, you already know about the Longdogs. They're the recurring easter egg hidden in every single episode of the show — stretched-out cartoon dogs tucked into background scenes that fans have been hunting for years.

The host of Ellie's Bluey 5th birthday turned that fan-favorite detail into the secret weapon of the whole party. She hid 10 Longdogs around the venue and built a scavenger hunt around them, and the kids (and parents) were obsessed.

The hunt sign and all 10 Longdog cutouts are yours, free.

What is a Longdog?

For anyone new to the Bluey universe: a Longdog is a recurring easter egg hidden in every single episode of Bluey. It's a stretched-out, comically elongated cartoon dog tucked into the background of scenes — sometimes on a cereal box, sometimes in a children's drawing, sometimes painted on a wall, sometimes as a stuffed toy on a shelf. Bluey's creators have hidden one in nearly every episode since season 1, and finding them has become a whole subculture among Bluey fans.

In other words: it's the perfect built-in scavenger hunt for a Bluey party.

What’s included

  • Longdog scavenger hunt sign — the printable sign that frames the hunt for kids
  • 10 unique Longdog cutouts — print, cut, and hide around your party space

How the host used it at the party

The host hid the 10 Longdogs around the venue at varying difficulty levels — a few obvious ones for the younger kids (taped to the snack stand, peeking out from behind a balloon), a few stealth ones for the older kids and parents (hidden inside the bunny adoption shelves, tucked behind the cake stands).

The hunt ran for the entire 2-hour party. Kids drifted between the ball pit, the bunny adoption, and the snack stand, then would suddenly run back yelling “I found another one!” The parents got just as into it. Multiple grown adults pulled out their phones to check the official Longdog tracker subreddit afterward.

Tips for hiding Longdogs at your party

  • Vary the difficulty. A few at kid-eye-level, a few that require looking up, a few hidden inside other decor.
  • Don’t tape them to anything fragile. Sticky-tack or removable tape on walls and furniture, paper clips on fabric backdrops.
  • Print at least 2 copies of each. Kids will want to take their found Longdogs home as proof.
  • Have a small prize for finding all 10. A pack of Bluey stickers or a Floppy bunny works perfectly.
  • Keep your own master list — by hour two of the party, even the host will forget where they’re hidden.

A note on the rest of the party

The printables are the easy part. The hard part is the easels, balloon arches, backdrops, kid-sized tables and stools, and the cocktail tables for the gift display.

The host rented all of it from neighbors on Collect Sisu — a peer-to-peer marketplace for event rentals and skills. Real pieces from real people in your neighborhood. No rental minimums, no agency markups.
